III. PROTECTION PROVIDED FOR THE SHIPOWNER THROUGH THE BIMCO SLOW STEAMING CLAUSE

BIMCO’s slow steaming clause, published in 2011(13) entitles the charterer to give an instruction of slow steaming but at the same time provides protections for the shipowner against the claims that may result from the slow steaming order of the charterer. The clause provides two areas of protection for the shipowner.
