Abstract: In this paper authors analyze criminal law responses to drug abuse in the Republic of Croatia as one of the most dangerous forms of contemporary organized crime. In this context, presented are the more important international documents for the suppression of drug abuse. Analyzed are national legal sources for the suppression of illicit drug production and trafficking, aligned with international documents, where a special place belongs to the Criminal Code, the Law on Combating Drug Abuse and the Republic of Croatia’s strategic documents. Particular emphasis is on the policy of narcotics suppression, the decriminalization of certain criminal offenses and current legal solutions. Significant place in the fight against this plague belongs to the judicial and health institutions that have to cooperate on a national and international level. The results of investigations into committed criminal offenses of drug abuse, unauthorized drug production and trafficking and the facilitation of drug use have been analyzed in more detail.
