The right of the press to freely access information and its duty to explain said information is the most effective tool in conveying ideas and forming public opinion. For this reason, it is also important not to interfere with the freedom of the press, which is protected with a constitutional guarantee. One of the situations where freedom of the press and the interest in protecting the child come into conflict is the news about “injured child”. These news, which are spread to a wider audience through digital media, are within the scope of the right and duty of the press to inform. However, they sometimes exacerbate the minor’s trauma, causing discrimination and constitute an interference with the minor’s personality. Thus, the question of which interest shall be prioritized and how and what kind of protection method shall be provided becomes relevant. In the article, firstly, the concepts of ‘digital media’ and ‘press’ have been explained and then evaluations have been made regarding the balance of interests using contemporary cases.…
